I’ve been using excel recently. A lot. And I’ve begun to realise just how advanced it is, and just how much you can do with it – assuming you know how. So for a bit of a laugh, and also out of intellectual curiosity, I’ve decided to make a video game in Excel. However, me being a single man with plenty of ambition and a reasonable amount of free time, I have decided to make not just any video game, but a proper RPG.

So, dear reader, I present to you Excelsior. Combining the text based RPGs of yesteryear, the mechanics of D&D 5E, and the thrilling nature of spreadsheets, Excelsior is a new videogame that will revolutionise nothing yet somehow enthral you.

Follow me as I create this groundbreaking game, using only Microsoft Excel, which will still be more advanced than whatever Ubisoft are doing.

Now, all the ego stroking is done, so let’s get onto the main stuff.

And so it begins…
